The Turaki of Ilorin and Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has congratulated the Talba of Ilorin and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, on the occasion of his 78th birthday anniversary.
In a congratulatory message issued by his media aide, Nasif Sholagberu, Senator Mustapha extolled the virtues of the elder statesman, describing him as a distinguished scholar, community leader, and an enduring source of inspiration to generations of Kwarans.
The lawmaker lauded Professor AbdulRaheem’s immense contributions to education, public service, and community development, noting that his legacy at the University of Ilorin remains indelible.
“ Prof. Oba AbdulRaheem used his positions both as Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and as Chairman of the Federal Character Commission to facilitate numerous opportunities and jobs for sons and daughters of the Ilorin Emirate and beyond. He is indeed an icon and a shining example of selfless leadership and service to humanity”, Mustapha stated.
Senator Mustapha further praised the celebrant for his commitment to fairness, merit, and equity in public administration, saying that his tenure at the Federal Character Commission strengthened national unity and gave voice to marginalized communities across Nigeria.
The Turaki of Ilorin also commended Professor AbdulRaheem’s role in promoting peace, cultural heritage, and intellectual growth within the Ilorin Emirate, adding that his influence continues to shape the region’s social and political landscape.
“ On behalf of the people of Kwara Central, I join family, friends, and admirers to celebrate our father and leader. We are proud of his accomplishments, his mentorship, and his continued dedication to the growth of our society,” Mustapha added.
He prayed for God to grant the professor good health, long life, and renewed strength to continue serving the nation and humanity.
