Capacity Building Training Program for Aso-Oke Weavers

 

 

 

The three-day capacity-building training program for Aso-Oke weavers in Kwara Central, organized by Senator Saliu Mustapha in collaboration with the National Productivity Centre, concluded successfully on Saturday, December 7, 2024. The initiative, aimed at enhancing the skills and economic prospects of local weavers, provided beneficiaries with modern techniques, equipment, and financial support to boost their craft.

The program attracted hundreds of participants who underwent intensive training in advanced weaving methods, quality improvement, and business management. At the closing ceremony, Senator Mustapha reiterated his commitment to preserving Kwara’s cultural heritage while fostering economic empowerment.

“Aso-Oke is not just a fabric; it is a symbol of our identity and a source of livelihood for many in Kwara Central,” the Senator said. “By equipping our weavers with the right tools, knowledge, and financial backing, we are ensuring that this cherished tradition thrives while creating sustainable economic opportunities.”

Senator Mustapha urged the participants to maximize the opportunity, emphasizing that continued dedication to their craft would guarantee long-term success.

This initiative marks another milestone in the lawmaker’s efforts to drive grassroots development through skill acquisition and entrepreneurship in Kwara Central.
